Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union organized the High level Conference on the Economy of Wellbeing, which will be held in Helsinki on 18 – 19 September 2019

The main event will highlight the Economy of Wellbeing approach, which examines the two-way relationship between wellbeing and the economy. As one of the cornerstones of the EU and a common European value, the economy of well-being is defined as economy that:

  • Expands the opportunities for people for upward social mobility;
  • Ensures that these opportunities translate into well-being outcomes for all the segments of population;
  • Reduces inequalities and
  •  Ensures environmental and social sustainability

The conference aims to generate cross-sectoral dialogue on the themes for use in the forthcoming Council conclusions on the Economy of Wellbeing.

EIGE will participate in the session Managing resources in changing environments and society. The session will be open by a key note on EU social policy and the economy of well-being by Caroline de la Porte from Copenhagen Business School.
