Under the patronage of Romanian Prime Minister Mrs Viorica Dăncilă, the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council organised the High-Level International Conference "The Situation of Modern Women - Between Empowerment, Leadership and Gender Discrimination". The event will be held in Bucharest, on 29-30 May 2019 

The main objective of the conference is to bring together policy makers and relevant stakeholders and facilitate the exchange of best practices, policies and initiatives of EU member states on gender equality in economics, leadership and prevention of gender discrimination in employment and access to decision-making processes.

In the context of the European Parliament and the European Commission new term and the preparations for EU post-2020 policies, the event also aims at mobilizing governments of the European Union to increase empowerment of women by strengthening their role and position in all areas of social life and by reducing the pay gap between women and men.
