EIGE's next Journalist Thematic Network meeting is coming up on 7 – 8 June in Vilnius. With the upcoming elections for the European Parliament in May next year, we will sharpen our focus to look at who holds the decision-making power in Europe.

The format of this meeting will be a bit different from others. Instead of the usual 1.5 day meeting, participants will come to Vilnius to take part in the Women Political Leaders (WPL) Summit on 7 June where they will hear from women political leaders from around the world. The following day, there will be the regular meeting in EIGE’s premises.

7 June: We will spend the day at the Women Political Leader’s Summit, which brings together over 250 women political leaders from all over the world.

8 June: Our morning session will focus on power dynamics in Europe: from the political level, to the financial sector and in media, sports and research. Our Gender Equality Index shows that men still dominate decision-making, despite big improvements in the past decade. We will also discuss how parliaments can be more responsive to the needs of women and present our new tool to measure their level of gender-sensitivity.

In the afternoon, we will shift our focus to the ever-growing digital space and look at how gender equality fits in and why we need to get more women in tech. We will also give you an update on EIGE’s plans for the second half of 2018.

As we will be in Vilnius, several of EIGE’s experts will be available to present our work and answer your questions. We will also make time for interviews at the end of the second day.

Agenda of the event is available under the Resources Tab.
