Ruth Lopian is Equality Coordinator and Policy Officer in the European Commission, DG Mobility and Transport, in the Unit in charge of Social Aspects, Passenger Rights and Equal Opportunities. She joined the European Commission in 1993 and has since worked in various departments (including Transport, Enlargement, Competition, Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs). Among others, she has worked in the Cabinets of Commissioners Martin Bangemann and Edith Cresson and has been dealing with financial services policy in the internal market, passengers’ rights as well as matters in the digital single market, such as the platform to business regulation, before taking up her current position in 2020. She holds a degree in history and humanities.
