To provide sex-disaggregated data on gender (in)equalities and the implementation of gender equality provisions in Germany at Länder and municipality level

Results and impact

This compilation of data has been published by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and is available on its website as well as on the website of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Family Affairs, Women and Senior Citizens of Baden-Wuerttemberg. It has been described by policy-makers and civil society representatives as useful and necessary for evidence-based policy-making in the area of gender equality.

Contents/activities/services

This publication provides a comprehensive collection of sex-disaggregated statistics at Länder level on 36 indicators related to four thematic areas, namely participation; education, choice of occupation and scientific qualification; work and income; and 'Lebenswelt'. It updates and expands the data material provided in the 1st Atlas on the equality between women and men in Germany that was published in 2009. Compilations of the data collected at municipality level – on which the statistics provided in the Atlas are based – have been published in separate publications.
